PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Bringing another story to life

We were delighted to be appointed the main exhibition contractor for the latest refurb works to the David Livingstone Birthplace exhibition.

David Livingstone was a Scottish missionary and explorer who exercised a formative influence on Western attitudes toward Africa.

We manufactured a number of interactive furniture pieces to help fully tell the story of Livingstone’s journey from Blantyre to Africa in a more hands on way.

This project required a lot of dedicated design time and a high level of craftsmanship from turned table legs, high end spray finishes and solid surface moulding. We built a number of touch interactive and stand alone piece to modernise the public’s experience.

The client did not want this project to look newer the the existing part of the exhibition and we were tasked with copying the original bespoke elements from the buildings original fit out and incorporating them into our new upgrade work.

We were able to successfully make sure the the exhibition was in keeping with the existing areas of the exhibition, profiling and templating existing pieces.

Key features: integrated touchscreens, interactive writing tables and a new jigsaw legacy table.
